⚡ Live Faceoff

Live multiplayer · quizzer vs quizzer
🙏
Honor System Required
Each player marks their own answer — correct or wrong. There's no referee. This game only works if everyone is honest. Cheating doesn't help you learn and only hurts your integrity as a quizzer. "Whatever you do, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus." — Col. 3:17
⚡ How Live Faceoff Works
Creating a Room: One family taps "Create Room" and gets a 4-letter code. Share that code with other quizzers by text, voice, or the Share button.
Joining: Other players tap "Join Room," enter the code and their name. Up to 6 players can join one room.
Playing: The host taps "Start Match." Everyone sees the same question at the same time. Each player reads the question, taps "Reveal Answer," then marks themselves right or wrong — honestly! The host's device waits for everyone to answer before moving on.
Dropping out: If a player drops connection mid-match, the game pauses. The host can wait for them to come back, or tap "Skip" to continue without them. If they rejoin, they jump back in at the current question.
Persistent rooms: Room codes never expire (unless deleted). Save the code and rejoin anytime — great for ongoing competitions or coming back after a break.

JBQ Rules

Quizzer's Quick Guide

📖 These rules are from the Official JBQ Guidelines (2026). Know them — they could save you points!

⭐ The Basics — How a Match Works

1
A match has 20 questions: 10 worth 10 points, 7 worth 20 points, and 3 worth 30 points.
2
Answer a question correctly → earn the full point value.
3
Answer a question incorrectly → lose half the point value.
4
Quiz out: Answer 6 questions correctly → earn 10 bonus points and leave the table.
5
Strike out: Answer 3 questions incorrectly → leave the table.
6
Foul out: Receive 3 fouls → lose 5 points each and leave the table.
7
You have 5 seconds to buzz in after the question is read, and 30 seconds to answer.

🎯 Buzzing In & Answering

1
Keep your hands on the table, palms down as soon as "Question" is called.
2
Don't buzz in during the opening remarks (question number and point value announcement).
3
Wait to be identified before you start answering. Starting before you're identified = foul.
4
You can interrupt the question by buzzing in before the last word is finished — but then you must complete the question AND give the answer.
5
Speak loudly and clearly. The judges must be able to hear you or it counts as incorrect.
6
Mispronouncing a name is okay — as long as it's recognizable as the correct answer.

✦ Quotation Questions

1
The verse must be a perfect quotation — no word can be omitted, repeated, added, or changed.
2
You must give the complete reference (book, chapter, and verse) — either before or after quoting.
3
A stutter, cough, lisp, or accent does NOT make a quotation imperfect.
4
Words shown in [brackets] in the answer are optional — you don't have to say them.
5
If you interrupt a quotation question, you must complete the question in essence before quoting the verse.

🚫 Fouls — What NOT to Do

1
Buzzing in during the opening remarks (question number/point value). = 5 pt foul
2
Starting your answer before being identified. = 5 pt foul
3
Answering when a different quizzer was identified. = 5 pt foul
4
Giving help to a teammate who buzzed in. = 5 pt foul
5
Unsportsmanlike attitude or behavior. = 5 pt foul

⏱ Time-outs

1
Each team gets 3 time-outs per match (30 seconds each).
2
Only the head coach or team captain can request a time-out.
3
During a time-out, everyone on the team can talk freely.
4
1 extra time-out is given during overtime.

🔁 Overtime

1
If teams are tied after 20 questions, the match goes to overtime.
2
First overtime: 3 questions (one of each point value) in random order.
3
Still tied? Keep going with single 20-point sudden-death questions until someone wins.

✅ What Makes an Answer Correct

1
Your answer must contain the basic information required — you can say it in your own words ("in essence").
2
Extra information that's not wrong won't hurt you — it's allowed.
3
If a question says "give four" or "list five," you only need to give that number — even if the answer sheet has more options.
4
If the answer uses "or" (e.g., "crucified or nailed to a cross"), you only need to say one of those options.
5
If the answer uses "and," you must give all parts joined by "and."

📖 Scoring at a Glance

Correct answer → +full point value (10, 20, or 30 pts)
Wrong answer → −half the point value (5, 10, or 15 pts)
!
Foul → −5 pts
🏅
Quiz out bonus → +10 pts (for getting 6 correct in one match)

Your First 10 Minutes

Brand new? Don't open Practice yet — start in My Cards instead. Here's the best way to begin:

1
Add your profile — tap the profile bar at the top, enter your name and pick an emoji. Each quizzer needs their own profile so progress saves separately.
2
Open My Cards (bottom nav) → tap the 10pt tab. You'll see a grid of small squares — one for every 10-point question.
3
Tap any card. It opens a popup — tap through 3 times to see the breakpoint, full question, and answer. Use the audio buttons to hear it read aloud.
4
Set your status — tap 📖 Studying for questions you want to work on. Do this for about 10 cards. Don't try to do them all at once!
5
Switch to Practice View (tab inside My Cards) → tap 📖 Studying → drill your 10 cards. Now your practice is targeted — only the questions you picked.
6
Level up! When you've got a question solid, go back to the card and bump it to ✅ Know It. Getting really fast? Push it to ⚡ Know @ BP.
💡 Come back tomorrow and tag 10 more cards. The ladder builds a little at a time — that's the whole point.
